December 10 – Wisdom Wisdom. What was the wisest decision you made this year, and how did it play out? (Author: Susannah Conway)

I feel that this year was a wisdom year actually. In many different aspects of my life I feel that I have made wise decisions. & heres the list of them.

1. Health: With diabetes everyday I make decisions. From should I eat this? or Should I exercise even though my blood sugar is on the higher side or on the lower side? It’s just so many decisions and choices pop up everywhere! One big decision was getting the Dexcom connected to me. I personally like it. It makes my management a lot more easier and less anxiety about where my numbers are going. This is a really helpful gadget. It sure does beat not knowing my trends. Also just recently (past month) I have been writing down my number in a little log book. It would be easier for my doctor to see this rather than just basing off of my concerns and A1c.

2. College: This is not my first year of college. However, this is my first year of actually knowing what I want to do in my life. I made the decision to go to nursing school. I applied and hoped I would get accepted. When I did my deposit went in the next day. I was really excited to go to nursing school and I was ready for the challenge or so I thought. It is very hard but I feel like I am learning a lot of ‘nurse thinking’ which is way different from normal testing or evaluations. I can’t wait to get my RN, BSN, then MSN. I would like to end as a nurse practitioner. Of course working with kids with Type 1 diabetes. :)

3. Family: I have been in more contact with my family personally. I don’t just send a card for Christmas or birthdays but now I actually call to see how my extended family is doing. I feel like I am more connected with them and I appreciate the family that I do have. I am pretty happy with the relationships that I have improved. I hope that it just continues to get stronger but it is really hard when everybody seems to be so busy with work and school.

Those are the three most important and I feel that there is so much more but I could be writing this for hours.
