The Language of Diabetes

The language of diabetes has always fascinated and bewildered me. Ever since I was diagnosed I cringed at words like “complications” and avoided the labels of diabetes and chronic illness, preferring to keep my disease locked away in a closet where no one could see. As I approach my 40th birthday, I am finally learning to speak the language and accept my disease.
