Diabetes Blessings Week, Post #5

Today is going to be tough to feel like Diabetes is a blessing in any way, I woke to a 374 mg/dl. I think Thanksgiving broke my site. I feel like hell. And my bank account is screwed. So, not in a great mood. But….underneath it all, there is always a blessing, you just have to look.

I grew up being told no. “No, you can’t eat sugar.” “No, you can’t eat that.” “No, it’s not a great idea to have kids.” “No, you can’t walk around barefoot.” “No, you can’t….”

Some of the “No’s” came from parents and family because that is what they were taught back in the late 80′s. I don’t feel any animosity toward them, not even the Doctor’s really, they simply just did not know any better.

I believe because of the multitudes of “No’s” that riddled my life I started bottling up courage very young. I was not afraid to try something. If I didn’t work out, I learned from it and moved on. I was Always willing to Try.

I still have that courage, not as fearlessly as I did growing up but it’s still there. All you can do is try and Diabetes taught me, blessed me, with that courage.

Thanks, Diabetes, I Really need that courage right now……
