December 7 – Community Prompt: Community. Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011? (Author: Cali Harris)

1. A unified body of individuals the people with common interests living in a particular area
2. A group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society
3. A group linked by a common policy a body of persons or nations having a common history or common social, economic, and political interests

A community that I have been in for a little while is the DOC. I learn so much and can relate to concerned parents or individuals with diabetes. It has really opened my eyes to read about experiences that only I was experiencing. I wasn’t going through any of this alone and it was a relief for my sanity.

Another community that I joined this year was being a student nurse. We all understand that nursing school is stressful and that not everybody will understand what we go through. However, it is something that I do enjoy and I just can’t wait to graduate and the be a part of the RN community.

In 2011, I don’t know what community I would join. It just depends on time and what I am going through in life. I guess only next year will tell.
