A call to the insurance company…

At my last endo visit, they handed me a bill from November for $226.61. At the bottom of the bill there was a note: “Please contact your insurance company. They need further information to process your claim.”

After putting it off for a few weeks, I finally decided to give them a call today. Apparently, the doctor had to fill out a form stating that I was either seen by them from 2/2010 to 9/2010 or that I was seen by another doctor for my pre-existing condition. The doctor checked that no I was not seen by them, and that it was unknown if I was seen by another doctor….

I found that odd, since I know my previous health record was sent over from my old doc to the new doc, but whatever. Now, I have to fill out a form and send it back to the insurance company. One more thing to do, but easy enough I suppose.

While I had the insurance rep on the phone, I decided to inquire about whether or not I was covered for pregnancy under my current plan. She said that yes I was, but my contract year only covered $10,000 TOTAL. I’m pretty sure that in addition to diabetes supplies, medications, and doctors visits, a pregnancy would send me sailing over that ten thousand dollar mark.

So, from here I need to talk with my husband about upping our insurance plan (and I’m praying we haven’t missed open enrollment) and re-working our budget to put more money away.

I have to admit, thinking about all the To-Do’s is becoming a little bit overwhelming. Luckily, the second half of this semester is Ob/peds and from what I hear, its pretty laid back.

Does anyone have tips on staying organized?? I think it might help take some of the edge off….
